Reader’s Progress #6

Abandoned:
Consider Phlebas by Iain M. Banks – It wasn’t bad, but it’s so serious and heavy. I’m just not in the right place for this or other Culture series books right now.

Shub-Niggurath Cycle edited by Robert C. Price – These anthologies of stories vaguely connected to Lovecraft that were written before, after, or during his life by other writers never really work for me. I got tired of this one really, really quickly.

Finished:
Cthulhu Tales: Darkness Beyond edited by Mark Waid – Eh. Not horrible, but all of the stories were very short and sort of like the punchlines to weird jokes. I tend to need more substance in anthologies, even illustrated ones. 2 stars.

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa – My review will be up on Monday!

The Spirit Thief by Rachel Aaron – My review will be up on Tuesday! I am kinda sad though. I so didn’t want to finish it. I need the next two book right now.

Reviewed:
iDrakula by Bekka Black
Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire
Secret Avengers Volume 1: Mission to Mars by Ed Brubaker
The Stepsister Scheme by Jim C. Hines

About April

I'm a librarian, reader, and writer whose main goal in life is to be able to swim in books the way Scrooge McDuck swims in money. Although my reading choices will always be wildly eclectic and I never plan on leaving any genre unexplored, my favorite reads tend to be Fantasy, Young Adult, Science Fiction, Gay Romance, or Historical Fiction. You can e-mail me at inspector[dot]librarian[at]gmail[dot]com.
