My Book Boyfriend #9

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by The Unread Reader where readers can swoon over boys in books every Wednesday!

Today’s Book Boyfriend is… Archie Goodwin from the Nero Wolfe mysteries by Rex Stout.

A Decent Likeness of My Book Boyfriend:
After seeing Timothy Hutton play Archie Goodwin in the A&E series, it’s impossible for me not to picture Archie as looking like Timothy Hutton, who looks very good in suits.

My Book Boyfriend Stats:

  • PI
  • From the Midwest, relocated to NY
  • Live-in assistant to Nero Wolfe
  • Street Smarts
  • Eidetic Memory
  • Prone to tearing up paychecks to annoy Wolfe
  • Hobbies: dancing, poker, and baseball
  • Fanboy for: Saul Panzer
  • Favorite drink: Milk

What Led to Massive Crushing:
I really like characters with a great sense of humor and a unique personality. Archie has both in spades. And I don’t think it would be possible not to like Archie. He’s pretty awesome.

Tears up paychecks and wears milk mustaches?! Yup, Archie sounds pretty awesome. How is it that I’ve never heard of the Nero Wolfe mysteries, not even the TV show. How unfortunate!

Thanks for sharing another new-to-me book boyfriend.

    • Aw, well luckily there’s always time to check it out!

Yay. I only heard about it when a couple of friends got hooked on the series so I’m happy to continue to spread the interest around. 🙂
