Picture Book Round-Up #2

Nothing can brighten up my day more than charming and creative pictures books so here’s four that I read today and loved.

Cloudette by Tom Lichtenheld (Goodreads Author)   Cloudette by Tom Lichtenheld – The absolutely adorable adventure of a petite cloud who finds out that she’s capable of doing great big things. The illustrations are delightful and the story is presented in a very simple way that works really, really well.

Rubia and the Three Osos by Susan Middleton Elya, Melissa Sweet (Illustrator)   Rubia and the Three Osos by Susan Middleton Elya and illustrated by Melissa Sweet – I love the use of Spanish along with English, and even the rhyming worked. The illustrations were bright and lively too plus there’s even a glossary in the back for going on the terms used. And I really like that in the end Rubia did a good deed and made some bear friends.

The Runaway Wok: A Chinese New Year Tale by Ying Chang Compestine, Sebastia Serra (Illustrator)   The Runaway Wok by Ying Chang Compestine and illustrated by Sebastia Serra – A somewhat fairy tale-inspired story of a wok who steals from a rich, selfish family in order to help out a poor boy and his loved ones. Very richly illustrated and well-crafted.

Wonder Woman: The Story of the Amazon Princess by Ralph Cosentino   Wonder Woman: The Story of the Amazon Princess by Ralph Cosentino –  Absolutely awesome and a must-have for people with little superhero fans or who just love Wonder Woman. The illustrations are very Grecian Urn-inspired and I really loved the way Diana’s story was presented from beginning to end. Definitely my favorite of these four.
